INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE
This course is designed for people who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills to use the Adobe website development tools (Dreamweaver CS3, Flash CS3, Photoshop CS3 and Fireworks 8) to build industry standard websites for business or personnal use. During the course you will produce a website to specification, and have have an option to dedicate some course time to build a business or personnal website.
This course has been particularly attractive to people who wish to receive a broader indepth coverage of using the software programs together for web development compared to attending short courses. The course provides sufficient time for consolidating skills learnt and covers the total workflow of planning a site, preparing the graphics, including any Flash content and building, managing and uploading the website.

Learning Outcomes
This Training Program is an accredited course containing units of competence from the ICA40305 Certificate IV in Information Technology — Websites (full certificate is 24 Units).
The units of Competence from the Nationally Endorsed Information and Communication Technology Training Package ICA05 are:
ICAU4205A Select and employ software and hardware tools
ICAB4135A Create a simple mark-up language document
ICAB4137A Produce basic client side scripts for dynamic web pages
ICAU4207A Apply a web authoring tool to convert client data for websites
ICAB4171A Develop cascading style sheets (CSS)
ICAS4201A Transfer content to a website using commercial packages
Participants will be assessed against industry competency standards and will receive a Certificate of Attainment upon successful completion of each unit of competence. This Certificate is for "part completion" of the Certificate IV ICA40305 stated above.
Training Method
Prepress Skills Centre is a specialist training centre (since 1995) with many years experience in providing specialist training to both the print and web publishing industries.
Our computer labs are very spacious and utilise ergonomically designed computer benches and chairs. Training techniques used at the training centre include the use of a computer projection screen for clear vision of demonstrations.
During the course participants will develop the skills required to complete structured exercises and workplace related projects. All techniques and skills will be demonstrated and each participant will be provided with feedback on their progress and personal attention when required.
Prepress Skills Centre is a ‘Registered Training Organisation’ (RTO) for the delivery of training, assessment of skills and issuance of certification.
Meet the Trainers
The trainers used for this Training program are Bernard O’Hara and Keith Bowley.
Bernard has been working in the Printing and Graphic Arts industry many years and has been training people in the use of the current web software applications since 1996. While working in the industry Bernard has produce many web sites for local and overseas companies.
Keith has been working in the Printing and Graphic Arts industry for many years and has been training people in the development of web graphics since 1999. Keith has been a graphic arts trainer for more than 20 years. Keith’s knowledge and skills are not just limited to the software applications, but also on colour reproduction and image scanning.

Prerequisites
No persons are excluded from this course based on their sex, age, social background or ethnic origin. To undertake this course participants require basic computer skills (Macintosh or PC) with the ability to manage files and folders. Participants are also required to have some basic knowledge of computer graphics. Photoshop and Fireworks will be used for the graphics component of the course and although these programs can be very complex and take many hours to learn fully, there is only limited time during the course for web graphics development. Having completed an introduction to graphics (Photoshop) short course or having prior graphics work experience would be an advantage. Prior website development experience is not a prerequisite.
